Position Summary
Under direct supervision, this role performs routine tasks in support of operations activities. Operations Technicians specialize in various trades/crafts such as IC&E, Automation, Compressor Mechanics, Pipeline, or other specific function. Shares responsibility for monitoring and optimizing processes and/or systems and validating that systems/equipment are functioning properly and operating efficiently. Tracks and ensures regulatory and corporate compliance. Supports an empowered work team focused on safety, profitability and cost leadership. Performs basic troubleshooting and may perform maintenance, replacement, and repairs in area of specialization. May collect and/or enter data. Position involves close interaction with LINN Operations field/plant personnel and with external contacts such as customers, subcontractors and other oil and/or gas producers. Ensures appropriate records are maintained. May assist with light housekeeping.
Key Accountabilities
Plant Maintenance Operator
Responsible for monitoring and optimizing gas plan processing systems. Interacts with natural gas producers and downstream product customers. Monitors equipment and equipment parameters involving data collection and sample gathering.
- Performs routine and preventative maintenance to help optimize mechanical performance and operating efficiency.
- Maintains the performance of temperature, pressure, flow, and level measurement control equipment as well as valves, hydraulic controls, and single loop controllers.
- Ensures regulatory and corporate compliance.
- Develops and maintains SOPs for improving the safety and integrity of the operation.
- Ensures protective systems and devices are in place to prevent, detect, control, or mitigate incidents.
Education, Certificates, Licenses
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 2-year Technical degree or Associate’s degree preferred
Experience
- Entry level up to 3 years of oil and gas industry experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Basic computer skills: proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, as well as DCS/SCADA control systems for some positions.
- Ability to effectively communicate between the team, team leader and other teams or customers both internal and external.
- Knowledge of regulatory and EH&S requirements and policies, as well as emergency response procedures.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Strong commitment to safety.
Work Environment
This role works primarily in a non-office environment. In this capacity, incumbents are regularly:
- exposed to outdoor elements such as extreme heat or cold, heavy winds, rain or snow
- required to drive to and access job sites, in light of day as well as in darkness, to perform work assignments. Some job site locations may be remote from the office requiring overnight stays and/or isolated from interaction with others and towns
- required to balance, bend, squat, crouch, climb, reach, grasp, stoop, kneel, push/pull and lift objects and use apparatus to push/pull and lift heavy objects weighing 50 lbs or more
- subject to exposure to hazards such as but not limited to slippery or uneven surfaces; environmental/industry hazards such as chemicals, high-decibel noise from production equipment, fumes or poor ventilation; proximity to moving objects and vehicles; potentially combustible components; hazardous off- road conditions such as dust, ice and snow
- may be requested to work long hours to complete job assignments
- may work a rotating schedule, be on shift, and/or be on call
- follow all company safety policies and protocols
- required to perform active, physical tasks including but not limited to operating equipment and/or machinery and making adjustments and repairs
- required to have visual acuity to work with parts, equipment, apparatus, etc.
- required to possess audible acuity to hear alarms in the event of emergency
