The Michigan/Illinois region consists primarily of natural gas properties in the Antrim Shale formation in north Michigan and oil properties in south Illinois.
These wells produce at depths ranging from 200 feet to 4,000 feet. Michigan/Illinois proved reserves represented approximately 8% of total proved reserves at December 31, 2016, all of which were classified as proved developed. To more efficiently transport its natural gas in Michigan to market, the Company owns and operates a network of natural gas gathering systems comprised of approximately 1,480 miles of pipeline and associated compression and metering facilities that connect to numerous sales outlets in the area. This region produced approximately 30 MMcfe/d or 4% of the Company’s 2016 average daily production. During 2016, the Company invested approximately $1 million to develop the properties in this region.
